MON Grading

The Mon Grades system is designed for 8 to 17 year olds and continues on from those aged 5-7 years who have taken their SHO assessments.

Both theory knowledge and practical ability has to be demonstrated for each MON grade taken. This is accumulative as an example for your 3rd Mon you will be tested on the syllabus for Novice to 1st Mon, 1st to 2nd Mon plus what is required for 3rd Mon. The higher you grade the more you have to know and demonstrate. To qualify as ready to grade you must attend 3 revalidation sessions prior to the grading date. You must also be on the Authority To Grade Register held by Sensei.

Please note – a FULL BJA LICENCE is required to enable you to be SHO assessed or Mon graded.
